In Summary the course was interesting, fun and educational. I learnt alot about Communication Technology that i thought i new everything about already. Like Word Excel and Wikipedia.
I enjoyed hearing the speech about CC as i never before knew of it's existence. It was a very interesting piece.
It was interesting comparing the 3D online environment to MSN and the characteristics of the two. All in all Good.

Net Field Trip
Habbo Hotel vs MSN
I decided to sign up for the Habbo Hotel 3d chat room and compare and contrast it to the ever famous MSN messenger. I found that personalising the character on habbo positively contributed to my characteristics, which people can see when talking and interacting with me in. The 3D environment definatly promotes a better/more personel environment. This is becuase you are actually speaking to someone, character face to face in an internet world. The movements and application you can use in the hotel also demonstrate a superiorioty over Msn messenger. In the online Habbo Hotel i was under the alias of Lusta Ruster. My real name is Harrison Moncrieff, i wanted a diverse and wierd name so the people i speak to online couldnt tract me down using the like of Facebook and Myspace search.
I use msn alot and the people on my contact list are the people i know personally. The friends i have made on Habbo hotel i am not personel friends with and this is evident when i speak to them about certain topics. For instance i wouldnt give details about my locations for the weekend to people on habbo hotel, but i would for friends on Msn. There is alot of socialising on Habbo Hotel that differs many people use Habbo to make new friends and partners in real life.
i belive the 3d aspect makes it easier to understand who you are talking to rather than someone on the other end of a chatt box. Tutorial 8 Word & Excel
During the class we worked on some exercises which involved Microsoft Office programs like Excel and Word. We Used these programs in ways that educated and demonstrated our understanding. Even though i thought i was sufficient with these applications I have to confess that I struggled with some of the tasks. I believe that the environment is really complex, so everyone using these programs has to have a basic knowledge of Microsoft Software and how it all works.
I encountered some problems when, I tried to insert a chart to represent my data, this is because of the columns and the data. Some of the formulas were tricky to master aswell. After i got the hang of the formulas and data columns is was easily understood. This can be very effective in the future for research and assistance.
I found the excel exercise quite simple, having precise attention to detail makes it a bit easier. I use excel most days for work aswell which definatly helps the situation. And yes excel does make a large difference with completing tasks.

I watched a movie recently and thought it would be interesting to research on Wikipedia. The Beach, 2000
The article was very accurate with its information after looking up information on google about the plot, characters and themes i found that Wiki had them covered. Wiki cover the plot, cast, difference between the Film and Novel, controversy, soundtrack and themes. The information that wiki presented for the article easily covered the basic information needed for a research project on the film. Yes this article does cover the wikipedia quidelines for useful articles. This article doesnt really have an arguement, its more of a documentary of the events of the movie.

This article doesnt follow the wikipedia normal facts of understanding, but is simple to follow and the information is correct according to yahoo and google. the article is a positive arguement for the actor and demonstrates all her good traits and qualities.

Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction", i'm not sure if technology allows just anyone to be an artist?? Programs like; Photoshop, iTunes Garage Band, Illustrator, iDVD etc (basically anything mac shop pro) are allowing people to edit and generate their own version of art, music and photos and help too personalise and characterise.
What does that mean for Art?
People who do create art from their computers, be it music, images, videos etc, are only artists as far as people accept them as artists. In my opinion. People that record songs and music on their computer becuase they dont have the money or access to a studio should continue. This means nothing for Art, just that more people are attempting to crack into the evergrowing culture. Furthermore skilled professionals will still be ranked higher due to their quality.

I freequently use new communication technology to communicate with friends and family. This is through things like MSN, Hotmail, Myspace and Facebook. I sometimes chatt with friends in online games aswel. I do have friends who i only know through the internet. They are mainly in online games, who i speak with through the game and clan talk aswell. This is definatly different to people i know and speak to online. I have many friends and people i know i speak to on facebook and MSN, which helps keep me in contact with them. I trust the people i have met alot more than people i havent met.
I have been using these communication technologies for around 8 years. I started using MSN and the likes of hotmail when i was 12. My friends and family members were into the msn and hotmail, which then inticed me to start using them. I believe privacy is a big issue with New Comm Technologies. I have personel information and information and photos on accounts like myspace and facebook. I believe its important to keep certain things about yourself, friends and family only. Overall i do use New Communication Technologies and enjoy the communication they provide.
